New E.U. law, came in to force on 1st January 2005 (UK General Food Regulaton 2004) legislating for one-forward one-back traceability. Manufacturers are now required by law to declare which ingredients, from which batch and from which supplier, were used to produce the goods provided to which customer.
Providing good traceability will affect all aspects of product traceability; one small but mission critical aspect of this process is the identification of each retail pack, traded unit and pallet. Accurate product date and traceability coding is essential. If an operator manually enters the wrong date or batch information in to their on-line date coder, all traceability is lost at the touch of a button. Use of a Package Coding Management System will eliminate human error from this process. Claricom supplies Package Coding Management software that removes the human error and maximizes efficiency in date and traceability coding operations.
